Mule Mountain

As of January 2017, the trailhead to Mule Mountain is closed. It passes through private property and the new owners did not want to cooperate with USFS.

I think my watch got confused in the lower elevation forests

Date: 3/31/16
Hike Difficulty: medium
Hike Length: 4.46 mi roundtrip
Elevation Gain: 1224 ft
Time: 1 hr 31 mins
Tick Count: Me-0   Grace-3

My Rating (out of 5): 4.0 – I love pretty much any hike in the Applegate. This is my third time hiking Mule Mountain and it doesn’t get old. It offers some good views relatively close to home, so it’s a perfect hike to squeeze in after school (which is what I did).

I also like being able to see how the spring weather is changing the landscape. There were wildflowers everywhere, especially towards the start of the hike. Taller mountains in the area have still retained a little bit of their snowpack, but many of the lower elevation summit trails have started to thaw out and open up. Yay!!!
