My Rating (out of 5): 4.0 – Bald Mountain is close to home, but not an official enough trail to have signage. It may eventually be a part of the proposed Jack-Ash trail which will connect Jacksonville and Ashland. I got most of my information about how to get there from the Siskiyou Uplands Trail Association (SUTA) website, as they are the ones working with BLM and landowners to make a plan for the trail.

The website said that it would be 3.5 miles depending on where you start, but I guess I started a lot farther up. It was such a short hike, it was disappointing in a way. Nevertheless, it offered some new views of the area that I had not seen before. I could even see as far as Mount Thielsen, Mount Bailey and Crater Lake areas. I might return to this trail just to see where it takes me. After reaching the summit, I saw that it headed toward Wagner Butte, so it makes me curious to see if it actually connects.
